Our Sisters’ House provides compassionate, survivor-centered sexual assault advocacy and support to individuals affected by sexual assault throughout Pierce County. Based in Tacoma, our trained advocates help survivors navigate options, access resources, and regain a sense of control, safety, and empowerment throughout their healing process.
What This Service Is
Sexual assault can have lasting physical, emotional, and psychological impacts. Our advocacy services are designed to support survivors without judgment, pressure, or expectation. Survivors are always in control of what steps they choose to take, if any.
Services are confidential, voluntary, and centered on survivor choice.
What We Offer
Our sexual assault advocacy services are voluntary, confidential, and tailored to each survivor’s needs. Our advocates are trained to provide support without judgment or pressure.
Survivors can receive compassionate, nonjudgmental emotional support during times of crisis. Advocates are available to listen, provide grounding support, and help survivors feel supported and understood.
Advocates can provide support during medical care or forensic exams, if desired. Survivors receive clear information about what to expect and are supported throughout the process at their own pace.
Survivors can receive information about reporting options and their rights. Advocates provide guidance without pressure, allowing survivors to make informed decisions that feel right for them.
When requested, advocates can accompany survivors to interviews, appointments, or other related meetings, offering support and advocacy throughout the process.
Advocates connect survivors to counseling, healthcare, and community resources that support healing, stability, and long-term well-being.
Survivors can work with advocates to develop personalized safety plans and receive ongoing advocacy support as they navigate next steps and healing.
Who Can Access This Service
This service is available to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, regardless of when the assault occurred. Survivors do not need to be in immediate crisis to receive support.
